PAINESVILLE, Oh. -- Fairmont State Wrestling took to the mat once again as they competed in the Storm Open hosted by Lake Erie College on Sunday. Four Fighting Falcons finished in the top sixth of their weight classes on the day. In all, eight Falcons picked up at least one victory on the day at Lake Erie.

Jordan Hamlin picked up a podium finish on the day as he earned the third place after going 2-1 on the day with two victories. Hamlin started his day with a pinfall over Tiffin's Tanner Aslept in 1:34 and finished in third after a medical forfeit from his opponent out of Lake Erie.

Pat Vega joined Hamlin in the top five as he finished in fifth place with four victories on the afternoon. Vega started his day with a 9-7 sudden victory over Wheeling's Joshua Sharron before advancing to the quarterfinals with a 9-4 decision over Lake Erie's Brady O'Connor. Vega took home the fifth-place finish via a medical forfeit from his opponent out of Lake Erie.

Austin Gibson rounded out the top five placements for the Falcons today as he went 3-1 on the day with a pinfall in the fifth-place match over Fabio Preka in 4:54. Gibson narrowly missed out on the semifinal as his opponent out of Lake Erie earned the 5-3 sudden victory in the quarterfinal round. Gibson picked up a takedown with 30 seconds left in the third period before Brylan Clouse of Lake Erie collected one point via an escape and another point in first seven minutes via riding time to force overtime.

Fairmont State's Cade Moisey placed sixth overall at the Storm Open with a victory over Lake Erie's James Penfold.

Fairmont State Wrestling is back on the mat on Saturday, December 11th when they head to Gannon University for a dual meet at 7:00 p.m.
