- Fairmont State is now ranked #18 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll while fellow Mountain East Conference member West Liberty remains at #8 in the rankings. The University of Charleston is receiving votes for the second straight week of the NABC release.
- Fairmont State is in their 127th meeting with the Cardinals as the Fighting Falcons hold the 87-39 series advantage over Wheeling. The Falcons last played Wheeling in Fairmont on February 13, 2021, where Fairmont State picked up the 87-73 win inside Joe Retton Arena.
Dale Bonner led the Falcons in the victory with 29 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. The Falcons also got 20 points and five rebounds from
Isaiah Sanders and 17 points from
Zyon Dobbs off the bench.
- The Fighting Falcons are now 11-2 on the season and 6-2 in MEC play with Fairmont State picking up two wins over conference opponents last week in Alderson Broaddus (W, 93-88 (OT)) and Notre Dame College (W, 85-83).
- Fairmont State ranks third overall in the MEC in scoring average (86.5 ppg) with West Liberty being ranked first with 96.3 points per game. On the defensive side, the Falcons are second in scoring defense allowing 73.8 points per game in 13 contests. Sanders is second in the MEC in scoring average with 23.3 points per game and Younkin is second in the MEC in pulling down 10.5 rebounds per game. Fairmont State is also first in defensive field goal percentage with opponents only shooting 41.7% from the field.

Tim Koenig enters his third season as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Fairmont State and carries an overall record of 49-14 at Fairmont State. Koenig will be looking to earn his 50th win on Wednesday night at Fairmont.
#18 Fairmont State (11-2, 6-2 MEC) heads to West Liberty on Saturday afternoon to face the #8 Hilltoppers at 4:00 p.m. inside West Liberty's ASRC.
