The Fairmont State Fighting Falcons women's soccer team prepares for the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional opening match versus Gannon. The game will be played on Friday (Nov. 11) at 3 p.m. in Erie, Pa. on the campus of Gannon University. The winner will advance to the Atlantic Region semifinal game to play the winner of the Frostburg State and Kutztown match on Sunday (Nov. 13) at 3 p.m.

Fighting Falcons Facts
- This is Fairmont State's first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. The Fighting Falcons won the Mountain East Conference Women's Soccer Title last Sunday (Nov. 6) in penalty kicks (4-3) over Frostburg State.
- Standout goalkeeper Taylor Kennedy and the Fighting Falcons' defensive unit did not surrender a goal in MEC postseason play. Kennedy, a senior from Evans, W.Va., made a season-high 13 saves in the MEC Championship versus Frostburg State, which was the second-highest save total in any MEC postseason game. - Senior Ari Christiansen leads the Fairmont State defensive group. The University High School alum received All-MEC First Team recognition. Christiansen has been on the pitch for all 1,820 minutes of game time for FSU.
- The MEC's leading goal scorer, Kiera Kuzinski, earned All-MEC First Team honors. The Davison, Mich. native netted 17 goals for the Falcons and has scored 34 career goals donning a Fairmont State uniform.
- Midfielder Mackenzie Gillispie was named to the All-MEC Second Team. The senior from Given, W.Va. scored four goals and started all 20 matches for Fairmont State. Gillispie and Kennedy were teammates at Ripley High School.
- Freshman sensation Alejandra Puerto was placed on the All-MEC Second Team and the All-MEC Freshman Team. The Honduras native scored seven goals and chipped in six assists in her first collegiate season.
- Emily Wallon received All-MEC Honorable Mention recognition for her defensive efforts this season. Wallon started all 20 games for Fairmont State as a sophomore.
- Kernell Borneo led the Fighting Falcons to an NCAA Tournament appearance in the second season at the helm of the Fairmont State women's soccer program. Borneo played collegiate soccer at Missouri Baptist and West Virginia University. The Trinidad and Tobago native brings over 18 years of coaching experience to the Fairmont State women's soccer team.
Scouting Gannon
Gannon, a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division, tallied an overall record of 14-3-4. The Knights fell to MEC member Concord and defeated Charleston in their non-conference slate.

Sarah Fails is the biggest scoring threat for the Knights. The senior striker from Girard, Pa. has totaled 29 points (12 goals, five assists) in 21 games played. Sophomore Gabby Boden is the Knights' assists leader with eight. Brockport, N.Y. freshman Ella Fadale has contributed seven goals and two assists in her first season with Gannon. Kennedy Solymosi is the projected starting goalkeeper for the Knights. The graduate student has surrendered 16 goals in 19 appearances and has made 65 saves with a .802 save percentage.

The Knights are led by veteran head coach Colin Petersen. Petersen, a Gannon graduate, has been involved as a coach for Gannon women's soccer for 23 years. Entering this season, Petersen owned a career record of 173-153-32 and is the winningest coach in Gannon women's soccer history.
