CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Fairmont State women's tennis faced the University of Charleston in the Mountain East Conference Semifinals inside the Charleston Tennis Club on Saturday. The Golden Eagles collected the 4-0 match victory over the Fighting Falcons.
UC will now match up with the winner of the second semifinal match between West Virginia State and West Liberty on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
The Falcons dropped the doubles point as the No. 1 duo from Charleston won 6-1 against Fairmont State's
Emme McKnight and
Ainara Pastor Garcia. UC's No. 3 pair defeated
Ana Carolina Tacchi and
Trang Hong Nguyen, 6-0, to collect the 1-0 advantage.
In the singles portion, UC notched the match victory with three victories at courts one, two, and four. The match went the way of the Golden Eagles in straight sets as well.
Fairmont State women's tennis wrapped its season up with an overall record of 8-9 and 3-3 in MEC action. The eight wins are the most wins in program history since the Falcons went 10-8 in the 2017-18 campaign.
