Scouting Davis & Elkins

The Senators have won 19 games this season, which is the winningst season for a Davis & Elkins team since the 1954-55 season. This year's squad posted the first winning season in 41 years and went undefeated in non-conference play.

D&E placed two players on the MEC basketball awards: Sam Rolle IV and Breland Walton. Rolle IV, a junior from Riviera Beach, Fla., was the MEC Freshman of the Year in the 2020-21 season and averaged 18.1 points per game for the Senators. Rolle IV has averaged above 18.0 points per game in all three seasons in the MEC. Walton is a fifth-year senior from Beckley, W.Va. and received MEC Honorable Mention accolades after scoring 14.5 points per game.

At the center of the Davis & Elkins turnaround is MEC Coach of the Year Daniel Mondragon. Before D&E, Mondragon was an assistant coach at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Fla.) and played for the Eagles from 2009-13. He won three conference championships during his time as a player at EAU.
