BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference today announced its Basketball Player of the Week award winners for the week of Jan. 8-14. Fairmont State forward Jalen Gibbs was voted the Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The MEC Basketball Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Gibbs, a senior from Wellington, Ohio, averaged 20 points and six rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Falcons. She opened the week with 14 points, five rebounds and four steals against Wheeling on Wednesday night. She followed up that performance with 26 points, seven rebounds and a steal against West Liberty on Saturday at home.

The Fairmont State University women's basketball team welcomes Salem University on Wednesday, January 17. Start time is set for 5:30 p.m.
