The Fairmont State University wrestling team hit the road to face Garrett College on Thursday, January 18. The Falcons were dominant over the Lakers with a 40-10 victory.
In the opening match at 125,
Brandan Myers picked up the win by fall (2:24) over James Bounds to jump start Fairmont State's evening. Garrett College claimed a major decision win at the 133 weight class.
Ryan Martin (141),
Trace Ragland (149) and
Kolton Parsons (157) each won by technical falls in their respective weight classes. Following a forfeit at 165 in favor of the Falcons,
Evan Thompson won by fall (1:51) at 174 before the Lakers picked up a win by fall in the 184 weight class.
The match of the night came in the 197 bout as Tristan Ice faced Garrett's Drayk Bunn. It was a back-and-forth battle between the two until Ice sealed an 11-8 win with a takedown in waning seconds.
Ethan Babay closed the night off with a major decision for the road win.
Fairmont State is set to head to Pennsylvania for the Shippensburg Duals hosted by Shippensburg University on Saturday, January 20. The first match is set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
