FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released its Team Scholar Ranking and Individual Scholar All-Americans. The Fairmont State University wrestling team finished 15th overall with a team GPA of 3.329 and set a program record with 8 individual Scholar All-Americans.
Headlining the group was Senior
Colton Stoneking who became a four-time Scholar All-American adding to his impressive list of accomplishments to cap off his career. Fellow Senior
Jasup Spragg became a three-time Scholar All-American and is an education major. Junior
Trace Ragland had a solid season where he was All-Conference, all-region and now a two-time Academic All-American.
The rest to receive Scholar All-American status were all freshmen.
Cooper Durst placed at multiple tournaments this year, was all-conference, all-region and match away from qualifying for the national championships.
Hunter Elliott saw some time on the mat this year and was a MEC Futures Champion.
Brock Evans got the nod at regionals and was a match away from placing.
Cole Turner had some big wins in the starting lineup this year and took fifth at the MEC Championships.
Colsen Spragg placed at a few college tournaments this year and saw a lot of mat time as a freshman.
It is the teams third top-20 finish in the past four years. Previously they have finished 12th in 2023 and 17th in 2024.
