Eight Wrestlers Named Academic All-Americans

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released its Team Scholar Ranking and Individual Scholar All-Americans. The Fairmont State University wrestling team finished 15th overall with a team GPA of 3.329 and set a program record with 8 individual Scholar All-Americans.

Headlining the group was Senior Colton Stoneking who became a four-time Scholar All-American adding to his impressive list of accomplishments to cap off his career. Fellow Senior Jasup Spragg became a three-time Scholar All-American and is an education major. Junior Trace Ragland had a solid season where he was All-Conference, all-region and now a two-time Academic All-American.

The rest to receive Scholar All-American status were all freshmen. Cooper Durst placed at multiple tournaments this year, was all-conference, all-region and match away from qualifying for the national championships. Hunter Elliott saw some time on the mat this year and was a MEC Futures Champion. Brock Evans got the nod at regionals and was a match away from placing. Cole Turner had some big wins in the starting lineup this year and took fifth at the MEC Championships. Colsen Spragg placed at a few college tournaments this year and saw a lot of mat time as a freshman.

It is the teams third top-20 finish in the past four years. Previously they have finished 12th in 2023 and 17th in 2024.
