DANIELS, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University men's and women's golf teams competed at the Mountain East Conference Tournament. The women's team finished third (1049) while the men's team finished fifth.
Emerson Simons led Fairmont State with a three-round total of 254 and finished 10th place. Simons carded rounds of 92, 78 and 84.
Marra Johnson just missed out on a top-10 finish as she was tied for 12th with a score of 255 (83-83-89).
Mia Chambers finished the 54 holes with a total of 271 (87-87-97) for 18th-place.
Skyler Jefairjian and
Abigail Lint finished 20th and 21st, respectively as Jefairjian shot a 275 for the three rounds while Lint carded a 283 for the event.
Glenville State took home the MEC Title (942) while Charleston placed second just one shot behind (943). Concord and West Virginia Wesleyan completed the top five in the tournament.
On the men's side,
Alex Turowski led paced the Falcons as he finished tied for seventh with a 54-hole total of 223 (78-71-74).
Caleb Young was the next Fairmont State golfer as he placed 19th with rounds of 74, 82 and 75 (231).
Jack Hayes finished 26th with a total of 236 (78-76-82) while
Ben Ritenour placed 26th as he carded a score of 239 (80-81-78).
Liam Lohr was the final member of the team to compete as he finished 32nd with a 54-hole total of 245 (79-84-82).
The University of Charleston won the team title with a score of 890. West Liberty, Davis & Elkins and Wheeling completed the top five of the tournament.
