BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference today announced its Basketball Player of the Week award winners for the week of Feb. 12-18. Fairmont State's
David Jolinder and
Katy Darnell were selected as the Players of the Week for their respective sports.

Jolinder led the Falcons in scoring this week as he averaged 24 points per game with the team going 2-0. In a road win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night, the forward from Stockholm, Sweden scored 25 points as he went 10-16 from the field. On Saturday afternoon, he paced the team with 23 points and five rebounds in the win against Frostburg State. For the game, he went 9-11 from the field and shot 70.4-percent from floor for the week.
For Darnell, she helped guide Fairmont State to a 2-0 week and the first regular season conference title since 2005, locking up the #1 seed in the MEC Championship. On Wednesday night, Darnell scored 23 points as she was 11-14 from the field in the victory over West Virginia Wesleyan. In Saturday's win against Frostburg State, the guard from Charleston, West Virginia nearly recorded a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
The men's team will face fourth-seeded West Virginia State University on Friday, March 8 at 8:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals. For the women, they await to see who they'll play on Thursday, March 7 in the quarterfinals. The entirety of the MEC Championship will take place at the WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia.
