Falcons' DeAngelo Earns MEC Women's Basketball Honor

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has chosen Fairmont State's Alyssa DeAngelo as the winner of this week's MEC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

The 5-10 graduate student guard from Jefferson Hills, Pa. shot nearly 70 percent from the floor as the Falcons stretched their winning streak to 5 games with a pair of double-digit wins. She got off to a flying start with a game-high 24 points in a 91-49 road win at Point Park on Wednesday and followed that up with a 23-point outburst in Saturday's 75-62 home victory against Salem. For the week, DeAngelo shot 17-for-25 from the floor – including 8-of-13 from behind the 3-point arc – and went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.
