Football Travels to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday

Fairmont State seeks its first win versus NDC since 2016.

The Matchup
• Fairmont State travels north to the Cleveland suburbs for a road test on Saturday (Sept. 23) at Notre Dame (Ohio) at Moeller Field. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. 
• The game will be broadcasted live on MEC TV. Fans can tune into SKY 106.5 FM with the voice of the Fighting Falcons Travis Jones on the call with color analyst Duane Cochran. Live stats will be provided on fightingfalcons.com.
• Fairmont State fell at home last Saturday in overtime versus Wheeling in a 43-37 game at Duvall-Rosier Field. 
• Saturday's matchup is the 10th meeting between Fairmont State and Notre Dame. NDC holds a 6-3 edge over Fairmont State in the series. NDC has won the last five contests, with Fairmont State last defeating NDC in 2016.

Fighting Falcons Facts
• As a team, Fairmont State leads the MEC in rushing offense (213.0 yds/game), sacks allowed (1.00 sacks/game) and passing yards per completion (18.94 yds/completion).
• Three Fairmont State rushers rank inside the top 10 in rushing yards. Dereik Crosby II enters this week fourth in the MEC with 230 total rushing yards. Leonard Farrow ranks seventh with 182 yards and QB Michael Floria is ninth with 160 rushing yards. Crosby II and Farrow both have recorded a pair of rushing touchdowns.
• Floria was Fairmont State's leading rusher verus Wheeling and finished with a career high 112 rushing yards. Floria crossed the goal line after a 25-yard scramble in the third quarter versus the Cardinals. The junior from Prince Frederick, Md. has totaled 31 completions for 587 yards and six touchdowns. 
• In the first half versus Wheeling, Kobe Harris returned a punt 74 yards for a punt return touchdown. Harris is the Falcons' leading receiver and has racked up 225 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He ranks seventh in the country in averaging 28.1 yards per reception.
• Sophomore wideout Winston Page hauled in five receptions for 74 yards and two scores versus Wheeling. Page has totaled 149 receiving yards and averages 16.5 yards/reception. 
• Gage Michael has caught six receptions for 143 yards in his first three games in a Fairmont State uniform. The Kent State transfer and Fairmont native caught a 15-yard pass from Floria to put Fairmont State ahead 42-16 early in the third quarter versus the 'Toppers.
• Defensive Back Jovon Jackson won MEC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11 after creating two turnovers in the week two win at West Liberty. The junior from Gainesville, Va. has forced two fumbles and has picked off a pass to go along with 24 total tackles.
• Brocton Blair leads the Fairmont State defense with 28.0 total tackles. Blair has added four quarterback hurries, two pass break ups and 1.5 tackles for a loss. Jackson (24.0) and Tyrees Smith (20.0) have racked up 20 or more tackles for the Fairmont State defense.
• Nemo Roberts, Donovan O'Malley, Randy Robinson and Bryce Mumphrey have each recorded a sack. 
• On special teams, punter Scout Arthur has averaged 39.7 yards per punt and has placed six punts inside the 20-yard line. Placekicker Emmanuel Richardson has made three field goals, including a 43-yard try, on the season. Matt Pack leads the MEC in blocked kicks and has blocked a pair of extra points. 
• Fairmont State Head Football Coach Jason Woodman surpassed Doug Sams and now holds the second-highest win total out of any Fairmont State football coach with 54 wins after defeating West Liberty on Sept. 7. Woodman is in his 11th season leading the Falcons.
• Ron Rankin returns as the Defensive Coordinator. The Falcons added Roland Brady (Defensive Line), Jennings Berry (Tight Ends), Travis Everhart (Offensive Line), Matt Perotti (Outside Linebackers), Laurence Treadaway (Defensive Backs / Special Teams), Kyle Weiss (Wide Receivers) Quincy Wilson (Running backs / Recruiting Coordinator)

Scouting NDC
• After a 2-0 start for the MEC Preseason favorites, Notre Dame fell on the road at Glenville State in week three in a 24-21 game, snapping a six-game MEC winning streak. The Falcons have qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs in each tournament since 2018.  
• NDC leads the conference in scoring offense with 43.7 points per game and set the MEC scoring record in their week two win over West Virginia Wesleyan after scoring 87 points.
• On defense, NDC has held offenses to a 13.5 percent conversion rank on third down, which is the top average in the conference and the third best in the nation. The Falcons have allowed an average of 78.0 yards per game, which is the second-lowest rate in the MEC.
• Quarterback Isaiah Murphy has completed 31 passes for 416 yards and two touchdowns. Idris Lawrence is the Falcons' leading rusher and has tallied 194 net rushing yards and one touchdown. Michael Solomon has secured 10 receptions for 179 yards.
• Nathan Rosario-Santos has forced two fumbles for the NDC defense. Isaiah Stephens is the leading NDC tackler with 23.0 total tackles.
• Coach Garrett Mack took over the Notre Dame College football program in 2022. Mack launched his coaching career at Baldwin Wallace as a student assistant coach in 2015.
