Fairmont State Women's Golf Team Competes Strongly at Home Tournament

CALABASH, N.C. — Fairmont State University finished fourth at the Larry and Wally Edgell Battle at Brunswick with a team score of 1,042, highlighted by Emerson Simons' third-place individual finish at 239 over three rounds.

Emerson Simons led the Falcons with a strong performance, finishing third overall with a final score of 239 (+23). Simons opened with a 77 (+5) in the first round and maintained consistent play, posting rounds of 82 (+10) and 80 (+8) to secure her top-three finish.

Marra Johnson delivered a solid showing, finishing 14th with a final score of 255 (+39). Johnson improved her performance with each round, recording scores of 88 (+16), 86 (+14), and culminating with an 81 (+9) in the final round.

Candela Lopez Prino tied for 18th place, ending the tournament with a total of 259 (+43). Her best round was her second, where she carded an 83 (+11) after an initial 86 (+14), concluding with a 90 (+18) in the third round.

Gianna Koski showed resilience, tying for 29th with a final score of 289 (+73). After opening with rounds of 100 (+28) and 101 (+29), she made a significant improvement in the final round with an 88 (+16).

Fairmont State returns to links on Monday, March 23 for the Vulcan Fire Classic hosted by California (Pa.). The tournament will be held at Lone Pine Country Club in Washington, Pennsylvania.
