Homer was a standout leader for Fairmont State men’s golf during the late 1950s, serving as team captain in 1958. A key contributor to several WVIAC Conference championship teams, Delovich helped guide the Falcons onto the national stage, leading Fairmont State to the NAIA Championship tournament.
 
At the 1958 national event, Delovich showcased his skill by winning the NAIA Driving Contest, further highlighting his individual talent and competitive spirit. His leadership and success played an important role in cementing Fairmont State’s reputation as a rising golf program during that era.
